This EU Seminar will take place on 22 September 2017 in Padova, Italy, aiming to capitalise on a solid bulk of EU-funded research and innovation actions on sustainable urban development.

The programme of the Seminar will be opened by Unismart and consists of a first session to set the scene, where the European Commission representatives will present key policy objectives and ambitions for “Innovating Cities” as well as practical insights and advises for the stakeholders interested in mobilising ambitious projects in future calls. The next session will gather project coordinators and representatives of European city municipalities of the H2020 EU funded demonstration projects (call 2016 on 'Climate and Resilient Cities') to share their main goals and lessons learnt so far. After a networking lunch, the final session will present some promising research themes and opportunities to engage the stakeholders.

This event provides the opportunity to promote running EU projects, learn from and network with the international innovative cities, top-level experts, policy makers, entrepreneurs/start-ups, knowledge providers and innovation intermediaries and share successful practices, models and ideas, in the spirit of mutual learning, open access, open innovation and open to the world. The final outcome is to increase cities resilience to major urban societal challenges and attract investments for systemic solutions that are at the intersection of technological, digital, nature-based, regulatory, social and governance innovation.

The Seminar is organised by the European Commission, the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) and Unismart Padova Enterprise, in-house company of the University of Padova in charge of technology transfer and innovation consulting, in the context of the Flormart Exhibition. There is no registration and participation fee. From 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, the seminar will engage representatives of European city municipalities of the H2020 EU funded demonstration projects, representatives from the Construction Sector (ECTP), Associations of SMEs, representatives from European and Global city initiatives and Networks as well as local public and private stakeholders.

Besides the EU Seminar, there will be the possibility to showcase posters as well as have an exhibiting area at favourable conditions.
